The Wedding of Virginia & Christopher

Virginia & Chris were married on June 27, 2009.  Their wedding had a great old fashioned feel to it and everyone had a lot of fun.

Something is missing....

We haven't been blogging as much.  We've had a great year and have been busy with weddings, portraits, senior portraits, and some commercial work/events.  We're eager to share some shots and show what we've been up to.  With all of that work, the blog has been lowest on the list of priorities, since it does not directly serve our clients' needs.  But, as the wedding season slows after October, we are going to be posting images from this year's weddings and more.  We have a lot of pictures we want to show off.  We've worked with a lot of great clients this year and we are thankful for everyone who has chosen to allow us to create beautiful images for them.  We are looking forward to another great year next year!

2nd Shoot for GQ Magazine and Bombay Sapphire's Inspired Bartender Competition

We did a second shoot for GQ Magazine and Bombay Sapphire's Inspired Bartender Competion.  Gary is a bartender at Martini's, which is right next to Mitchell's Fish Market coincidentally, and was also selected as a finalist to go to Las Vegas and compete with his special drink, Sapphire's Over Rio.

GQ Magazine Shoot for Bombay Sapphire's Inspired Bartender Competition

Today, Michelle and I drove over to Mitchell's Fish Market on Summit Plaza Drive to photograph Clay Livingston, who was the winner of Bombay Sapphire's and GQ Magazine's Most Inspired Bartender of Louisville 2009 competition.  Clay is a bartender at the restaurant and he won the competition with his original Sapphire Crush, which consists of Bombay Sapphire Gin, fresh lemon juice, Soho Lychee, and house made ginger syrup (and he tosses in a few lemon and cucumber slices).  I tried it after the shoot and it was actually really good.  I don't drink much and don't care for gin at all, but that was a tasty drink, and it's no surprise that it won.  Clay was great to photograph and we all joked around and had fun.

Here are a few quick edits on a couple of shots.  The magazine will make their own selections and edits.

After the shoot, Michelle and I enjoyed a great lunch on the house (thanks Hap!).  Mitchell's Fish Market has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville and we've always enjoyed great service.  So, how is that for a half-day of work? Joking around, having fun, taking pictures, and eating a delicious lunch.

Here is a quick pick from one of our weddings on Saturday, August 1

Congratulations to Erin & Jon on the fantastic wedding! This might be my favorite shot from this wedding.  The full wedding isn't online yet, so we'll see.   Michelle and I shot separate weddings on this particular Saturday.  We typically shoot together, but we like to shoot separately every so often and it lets us explore new things (and remember how much we love shooting together!).  I photographed with Nina Greipel and Michelle shot with Garrett Baumer.  They are both great photographers.  Michelle's wedding ended later than mine, so I stopped by the reception at Mellwood and photographed the last hour.  Amy & Jason had a pretty wild reception and it seemed like they had an equally great day.

Bridal Show Was A Success!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and chatted with us at the bridal show! It was great meeting all of you.  Call or email if you have any questions at all and we'll be happy to answer them.  Also, call Michelle if you are interested in scheduling a consultation and then you can come in to our studio, get to know us better, and review more of our work.  We've been busy this Summer and our blog isn't exactly up to date.  We are going to post every wedding here as soon as we find time.  Also, we've had a bunch of engagement sessions that we haven't blogged.  We've had a lot of great couples this year and we are eager to show them off!

Sunday We're doing a Bridal Show

This Sunday, August 2, Michelle and I will be at the Ultimate Bridal Services Summer Bridal Show.  It's fun talking to brides and meeting people, making fun of photographer friends when no one else is around,  and making fun of photographer friends when someone else is around.  It's a good time. You should check it out even if you aren't getting married and just eat free cake.

Something straight from our refrigerator

Michelle captured this shot of our daughter Ayla trying to kiss her friend a couple years ago.  We've had a print on our refrigerator long enough that I don't really notice it anymore.  I came across this copy while selecting some images for a project that I'm working on.  I really like this picture because it always makes me smile, so I thought I'd share.

The Wedding of Stephanie & Jamie

Stephanie & Jamie were married on June 20, 2009, at Spindletop Hall in Lexington, KY.  They had a wonderful outdoor ceremony and a great reception inside.  It is awesome when the weather is good, because everyone gets to take full advantage of such a beautiful location.

The Wedding of Lauren & Justin

Lauren & Justin were married at the Chuch of the Epiphany on June 6, 2009.  The reception was at Kyes and there was a lot of fun dancing.  I don't know what else to say. The pictures tell the story.
